Simple DIY Natural Floor Cleaner Recipe
Ingredients
- 5 litres of warm water
- 250ml white vinegar
- 15ml liquid Castile soap
- Up to 50 drops of lemon essential oil
Method
- Add the warm water to a bucket.
- Mix in the white vinegar.
- Add the Castile soap gradually and stir gently.
- Add the lemon essential oil and mix again.
- Test the solution on a small, inconspicuous area before cleaning the full floor.
Because oil and water naturally separate, stir the mixture again during use.
Important floor-care note
This recipe is not suitable for every floor type. Avoid vinegar-based cleaners on natural stone, waxed surfaces and unsealed wood. Some flooring manufacturers also advise against vinegar, so always check their care instructions first.
Castile soap and vinegar may occasionally produce residue depending on the formulation and water hardness. If this happens, omit one of them and use the ingredient recommended for your particular flooring.
