You’ve probably heard us talking about our incredible upcycled candle range before. Our candles are one of the sustainability efforts that we’re most proud of at Valley Mist; gathering together the waste materials from our oil-based products, like the lip balms and the skin balms, to be reused in our candles along with natural soy wax. These candles come in a variety of sizes, including most recently, our natural soy wax tea lights!
We use essential oils for our Natural Soy Wax Tea Lights
Our tea lights come in the same variety of scents as the rest of our natural essentiasl oil candle range: Lavender Dream, a wonderful, relaxing, classic lavender scent; Cedarwood & Orange Spice, a warming, cosy scent, perfect for autumn and winter; and Bay, Lime, and Lemongrass, an uplifting, energising, citrusy scent. So if you love aromatherapy you’ll love our natural candles and would love to have some mini versions to place in various locations around your house, now you can! Or alternatively, if you’re not sure which scent you’d like the best, at only £5 – 6 for a pack of three, the tea lights are an affordable way of being able to try all three!
How to make the most of our tea lights
One of the greatest things about tea lights is that they’re so versatile. Pop them inside lanterns or candle holders to create a wonderful ambience inside or in the garden. However, one of my favourite ways to use tea lights, is to use them all together, either running down the centre of a table or to decorate mantelpieces etc, in amongst flower arrangements and perhaps some taller candles to create a a beautiful, ambient, romantic setting. Just be careful to make sure the tea lights are kept at a safe distance from anything flammable! This can be a gorgeous way to decorate for a dinner party, or even just a cosy evening in. Our customers have often pointed out how perfect the Cedarwood & Orange Spice candles are for Christmas. Reminiscent of mulled wine and dried oranges, there really is no better scent for Christmas. So why not include them as part of your Christmas decorations this year, to make your home cosy and festive?
Once you’ve finished using our tea lights, the aluminium cases can then be returned to us via our glass returns scheme (even though they’re not glass!) to be cleaned and reused, and the paper packaging can be recycled. It goes without saying that the glass jars from the other candles can also be returned to us this way too.

The rationale behind Valley Mists’s decision to use sustainably sourced soy wax as the primary base for all our candles, highlighting its environmental and functional benefits compared to paraffin wax and beeswax.

Renewable Resource
Soy wax is a plant-based material derived from soybeans, making it a natural, annually renewable resource.
Environmental Impact (vs. Paraffin)
Biodegradability: Soy wax is biodegradable.
Petroleum-Free: Unlike paraffin wax, which is a byproduct of petroleum refining, soy wax is not fossil fuel-derived.
Soot Production: When properly wicked and burned, soy wax generally produces less soot than paraffin wax, contributing to cleaner indoor air quality.
Health & Lifestyle Claims
Non-Toxic: Soy wax is a naturally non-toxic material.
Vegan:As a plant-based product, it is suitable for a vegan lifestyle.
Affordability & Sourcing (vs. Beeswax)
While beeswax is a natural alternative, its higher production cost and non-vegan nature make soy wax a more accessible and inclusive choice for our product line.
